If a customer asks about their data, you must respond — here's how.
Imagine a customer calls your NBFC. They say: 'Why do you have my Aadhaar copy?' You have no answer. No one picks up. No email works. Under the new data law, this is not okay. Every NBFC must have a clear path for customers to ask questions or raise complaints about their information. If you don't have this, you can face serious trouble.
Say a customer took a loan from you. You have their PAN card, Aadhaar, salary slip, and phone number. Now they want to know why you still have their data after the loan is closed. They must be able to reach you easily. You need a published contact — like a WhatsApp number or email. You also need someone inside your office to handle such requests. And you must reply on time. No reply means no compliance.
Write down one email or phone number for customer data complaints.
Tell your team: if a customer asks about their data, inform the founder immediately.
